In recent years I have been reading a lot about the “rising Divine Feminine energy” in our world.
As I continued studying this term, I came to realize that this particular “energy” is like the flow of a subverted river. This energetic torrent needs to return to its natural channel, to refresh the parched landscape of our inner and outer worlds.
For millennia, our planet has been under the control of the patriarchal masculine energy of “supremacy”, which often meant war and conquest; “accumulation of wealth”, which often meant oppression, enslavement and plunder of others (men/women/children/animals/the planet itself); and “progress”, which often meant a complete reliance on logic, measurement of data and industrial/ technological advancement.

The feminine energy of love, collaboration, humanity, inclusion and intuition has largely been either ignored, quashed or defamed and dismissed as “not based in reality”; as if the only things that are “real” are those we experience with our 5 limited senses.
History is rife with terrible abuses throughout the ages because of this unbalanced male energy that has been allowed to run amok. Just think of the “witch hunts” of Salem and the horrors of the Crusades and the Spanish Inquisition.
“It is time for the Divine Feminine energy to rise again from the cinders of marginalization and oppression, so that our world can come into equilibrium after millennia of patriarchal rule.”

From what I can see around me, each of us women has the opportunity to bring back the Divine Feminine as we take courageous action in the world. I always try to walk my talk and you can read some of my story here.
In the meantime, I will share with you 3 stories of some amazingly powerful women who in my mind, embody the energies of the Divine Feminine.

Three Extraordinary Women
For example, in 2016, a female tribe leader in Malawi (Chief Kachindamoto), where child marriages are common, put an end to 850 such unions and sent the girls back to school to get an education.
You can well imagine that she upset a lot of people, but she didn’t care! Not only that, but she also stopped sexual initiation rites of girls as young as 7, telling the chiefs that this practice must stop.
With a woman like her in a leadership role of such an impoverished country, perhaps others will take heed and the traditional practices of families selling their female children because they are a financial burden will eventually disappear.
In a nation rife with all kinds of abuse, she is a shining light for those who had no voice before.
And you know what? She was the youngest of twelve children born to a tribal chief, had been a secretary for 27 years and had no aspirations to be a senior chief to 900,000 people!
Nevertheless, when she was called back to her home, she took up the mantle she was offered and proved that she wasn’t afraid of anything or anyone.
She just did what she had to do – one of many women who took risks and went against tradition to counteract exploitative actions.
THAT is the Divine Feminine in her power!
Then we have Greta Thunberg, the teen Swede who galvanized youth (and adults!) worldwide to tackle the very real and dangerous threat of climate change.
Not only is Greta young, she has been diagnosed with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), which she has been mocked for, by those who see nothing wrong in bullying a woman-child.
Whether you agree with her methods or not, one thing is clear. Greta has made an incredible impact on the world. She doesn’t mince words and is a force to be reckoned with.
Over 4 million people were on strike worldwide on September 20, 2019 because less than a year and a half before that, Greta began to strike from school, outside of the Swedish parliament, by herself!
THAT is the Divine Feminine in her Power!
Greta is angry and fierce and her recent speech at the United Nations is perhaps difficult for some to hear. She desperately wants to save the planet and won’t stop at anything to make that happen.
She has given voice to the frustration many adults have felt at the inability to influence decision-makers who avoid to take action about the changes we all see around us.
She refuses to believe that money and greed will triumph over intelligence and science. I hope she is right.
This list would be incomplete without mentioning a truly influential woman who championed equality in the United States legal system.
I am of course referring to the recently deceased Supreme Court associate justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, aka, R.B.G.
A woman of slight stature and quiet demeanour, she possessed an extraordinary intellect, as well as a relentless drive to bring balance to a system that was so blindly biased against women.
Again and again, she fearlessly took on the toughest legal cases, intent on changing the juggernaut legal system in her country and to bring justice to all, promoting gender equality to a society that didn’t even possess that notion as yet.
Into her 80s, “The Notorious R.B.G.”, as she was known, became a pop culture icon, with millions of young women following her and admiring her chutzhpah and enormous accomplishments.
THAT is the Divine Feminine in her Power!
Despite early obstacles in life, she went on to graduate first in her class at the Columbia Law School, although she was one of the very few women accepted to that institution, at the time.
I highly recommend the documentary of her life simply titled, “RBG”.

Balancing the Male and Female Energies
One of the huge advantages R.B.G. had was the love and backing of her devoted husband Martin Ginsburg.
He recognized her genius and supported her career every step of the way, even setting aside his own aspirations as a lawyer, to promote hers.
He was able to step beyond his own ego and share in his wife’s grand vision of gender equality in the legal system.

The Ginsburgs marriage is a true representation of the partnership of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine energies working together to bring about a more enlightened world. This balance is necessary for us to evolve as a species and create a world based on
honouring both the intellect and intuition, honouring both mental and emotional aspects,
honouring both the yin and the yang.

What We Can All Do Right Now
The 3 women I talked about here are only a small sample of the extraordinary work that women have carried out throughout human history. Sacrifices for their families and putting themselves last is what women have mostly done. This is encouraged by a patriarchy that continues to suppress and abuse women worldwide.
Those of us lucky enough to live in the western world, have more freedoms and rights than the majority of women across the world. And yet even in the 21st century, we are still not paid as much as our male counterparts.
I have been sponsoring female children in the developing world for many years, because I believe they are already born with the disadvantage of being female. It is a liability to be female in a male-dominated world, especially in areas where there are flagrant human rights abuses.

Despite all this, we as women, have something very valuable that we should never forget.
We have each other as a support network and together we can make a huge difference in the world!
“Women can be the strongest supporters of each other, or the deadliest of foes.
Which one would you rather be?
What kind of legacy would you like to leave behind you in the world?”

Phoenix on the Rise is anchored in the rising Divine Feminine energy I have spoken about in this post.
I deeply believe that this energy will return to our world through each and every woman who will follow the whispering guidance of her innermost Self (although sometimes it will be more like a roar than a whisper)!
Whatever your passion is, whatever cause speaks to you, wherever you can make an impact, do it!
I urge you to find your tribe and add your skills, knowledge and creativity to change this world and make it a better place for everyone.
THAT is the Divine Feminine in Her Power!

Very well written! There are and always have been many, many amazing women who made this world better for others with their love, Sacred force and light. The time is due to let them and us all speak our truth, shine and support eachother. This article is a great reminder that the Divine Feminine is something we all carry and can call upon to make a difference no matter how big or small we wish to show up. I believe we are destined to bring harmony back to our reality. Much love!
Wise words Ileana and so true. The three powerful role models are inspiring. The first time I heard that Dalai Lama quote was from you. It’s a call to all of us😘❤❤

Beautifully written, powerful words!
I want to thank you for the efforts you have made in composing this article. I am hoping the same best post from you in the upcoming as well. In fact your creative writing abilities have inspired me to begin my own blog now. Truly the blogging is spreading its wings rapidly. Your write up is a fine model of it.
I’m amazed, I have to admit. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative and entertaining, and let me tell you, you’ve hit the nail on the head. The problem is an issue that too few men and women are speaking intelligently about. I’m very happy that I came across this in my search for something concerning this.
I noticed your internet page from facebook and its pretty cool. Thankx for giving out this kind of an incredible blog post
